 | Injection pressure as a processing parameter
The injection pressure is the cavity pressure, which is measured near the gate. It is applied to fill the mold cavity. In the pressure curve, there is a characteristic kink between the mold filling and packing phase, that can be determined via process data acquisition. This is carried out using suitable a dumbell test specimen.
The red curve in the graph shows the rise in cavity pressure at a constant injection rate. At the end of the mold filling phase, the determined injection pressure is sufficient to fill the mold and the packing phase (blue curve) begins.
The dumbbell test specimen used, is shown above the curve to clarify the filling phase and position of the pressure sensor.
