Rockwell hardness
This test method determines the hardness of plastics as a function of the depth of indentation taking into consideration the elastic recovery of the test specimen. A steel ball with defined applied load is pressed onto a test specimen and then the load is released. Only the plastic deformation is observed. There is a variety of Rockwell hardness scales which differ in the combinations of indentors and applied loads.

Result of the test method:

Express The Rockwell hardness as a number prefixed by the scale letter (R, L, M).
